This wooded wedding venue provides the perfect backdrop for a whimsical forest wedding. Leigh & Kyle combined their wedding venue’s natural beauty with their own intentional details. Together they curated an event that felt both playful and deeply personal.
Leigh & Kyle – A Love Story Rooted in the Outdoors
Leigh & Kyle met about ten years ago when they both worked at REI. They were coworkers and friends for about a year before they started dating. Their first official date was a camping trip. From that moment on, nature became an integral part of their love story. Their relationship has been built on a foundation of adventure, shared laughter, and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.
Spending time in nature is one of the most important things to Leigh & Kyle. They find so much joy in backpacking together, spending days camping in the trees or venturing to the mountains. Their wedding design was a true reflection of their shared love for the outdoors. Which is why the natural elements played such a significant role in their day. They wanted their whimsical forest wedding in Oregon to feel immersive and connected to nature. Ensuring their guests could experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest alongside them.

The venue operates as a bed and breakfast, featuring six bedrooms in Mount Tom House and 200 acres of Oregon forest to explore. One of the most unique aspects of this venue is its ability to host guests for an extended stay, with ample space for camping. Leigh & Kyle’s guests fully embraced this opportunity, setting up tents and spending the weekend together under the stars. Therefore this communal experience added an extra layer of intimacy and adventure to their celebration, making it feel like a retreat as much as a wedding.

Private Vows and Ceremony Space: A Magical Meadow Wedding in Oregon
Leigh & Kyle exchanged private vows in a stunning forest clearing, surrounded by towering trees. They wanted to share these words privately so they could truly be present with one another, savoring the moment. Following their private vows, they gathered their loved ones in a serene meadow surrounded by Oregon’s lush forests for their ceremony.
They designed their wedding ceremony to feel intimate and grounded. Their choice of a low, floral-lined altar space that blended seamlessly with the natural setting reflects this theme. Guests sat in traditional rows, with vibrant floral arrangements lining the aisle. The atmosphere felt inclusive and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape. A perfect landscape to celebrate their whimsical oregon forest wedding ceremony.
Leigh’s best friend, Rachel, officiated the wedding ceremony. Because the couple met working at REI, she shared the REI slogan: “A life outdoors is a life well lived.” Here is one of my favorite quotes from Rachel’s beautiful ceremony: “Love, as Leigh & Kyle demonstrate, is an adventure. It is about exploring new paths together, discovering the unknown, and making every moment count.” Leigh & Kyle’s heartfelt sentiments about one another were shared in lieu of exchanging vows. The two officially tied the knot surrounded by the towering trees.
Reception Space: A Whimsical Oregon Forest Wedding Reception Under the Trees
After the ceremony, guests made their way to the lower level of the yard to enjoy cocktail hour. Cocktail hour featured high-top tables adorned with natural florals, a vegan charcuterie grazing table, and plenty of yard games. As the evening progressed, guests were invited to the upper yard for an open-air reception.
Upon arrival, a large scale seating chart greeted the guests—each spot marked not only with a table assignment but also a heartfelt, handwritten note from Leigh and Kyle. This personal touch was their way of expressing deep gratitude, letting each guest know how much it meant to have them there to celebrate their love.
The reception included round tables adorned with delicate wildflower arrangements, custom candles, and one-of-a-kind wedding signage. The intention of the reception space design was to feel an extension of the surrounding landscape. It featured warm lighting and natural elements enhancing the organic feel. A standout feature of the evening was the couple’s welcome flower box sign. This popular wedding decor trend added a creative touch that set the tone for the celebration. As night fell, string lights illuminated the space, adding a cozy ambiance to the whimsical oregon forest wedding.
Dinner featured vegan tacos with an array of toppings, served buffet-style. The reception fostered a sense of togetherness as guests shared a delicious meal as the sun went down. The evening included heartfelt toasts, laughter, and a lively dance floor that stayed full until the very end.
Custom Wedding Details and Unique Personal Touches
Leigh & Kyle put thought and intention into every detail of their wedding. They reflected their personalities and passions through every aspect of the day. One of the most special elements featured hand-drawn designs created by Kyle’s sister, Dani. Almost ever part of the day included Dani’s custom illustrations. Dani created designs for the table numbers, the signage, the wedding invitation suite, the etched wedding favor cups, and even Kyle’s tie clip—creating a cohesive visual story.
The beautiful signage was thoughtfully crafted by the one and only, Script On This. Megan is a talented, Portland-based signage artist (who I also worked with on Kenzie & Jack’s wedding day). Megan’s company, Script On This, is a fabrication and design company. They offer large scale installations, fully custom builds, as well as custom stationery. Megan loves to embrace weddings that are vibrant, non-traditional and truly embrace the couple’s unique story.
As mentioned previously, the couple included handwritten notes for each guest—a standout detail. Instead of traditional place cards, guests found a personalized letter waiting for them in the seating chart. The letter from Leigh & Kyle expressed gratitude for their presence. This small but meaningful gesture made the gathering feel even more intimate.
Bold Wedding Planning & Design For The Best Day Ever
The magic of Leigh & Kyle’s wedding would not have been possible without the expertise of their event planner, Kayla Griffis of Ascend Events Planning + Design. With a keen eye for design and an intuitive understanding of their vision, Kayla curated every detail, ensuring a seamless and enchanting experience. From selecting the perfect rentals to coordinating florals and decor, she brought custom elegance to the day. Her thoughtful approach made the event feel effortlessly beautiful, allowing Leigh & Kyle to be fully present and enjoy every moment. Her expertise transformed their wedding into an unforgettable experience, weaving together intentional design and personalized touches that reflected the couple’s love story.
Wedding Color Palette and Floral Design: Oregon Forest Wedding Edition
The couple’s love of nature inspired a vibrant yet organic color palette, featuring pale blue, soft orange, earthy greens, warm yellows, and delicate pinks. Flowers played a central role in the decor, with a grounded floral arch for the ceremony, aisle arrangements, and clusters of bud vases lining the reception tables. The idea was to let flowers take the place of traditional decor elements, enhancing the natural beauty of the space rather than overwhelming it.
Florist Kristine Ae Jin curated arrangements that felt as if they had been gathered straight from a wild meadow. But not just any meadow. Krissie featured a mix of seasonal blooms and wildflowers. The floral designs effortlessly complemented the surrounding landscape, adding to the dreamy aesthetic of the day.
The Wedding Attire – Whimsical Oregon Forest Wedding Vibes
Leigh wore an elegant yet effortless gown from a&be Bridal in Portland. Her wedding dress featured a delicate cutout in the front of the dress, as well as a single off-the-shoulder sleeve. Leigh’s wedding gown perfectly suited the forest setting. Kyle opted for a custom tan suit from Indochino, exuding relaxed sophistication. The bridal party embraced a mix-and-match approach, with bridesmaids in varying colors and textures and the groomsmen in coordinating tan attire. This choice complemented the natural, whimsical aesthetic of the wedding and allowed each member of the wedding party to express their individuality.
Memorable Wedding Moments at Mount Tom House
One of the most emotional moments of the day was when Leigh & Kyle exchanged private vows before the ceremony. Grounding together before the day truly got started, they shared heartfelt promises in a quiet space. Together they embraced an intimate and deeply personal moment that they can cherish forever.
Another unforgettable moment was the sunset wedding portrait session. The couple ventured to the venue’s sunset plateau, a secluded spot near the glamping tents, where they took in the golden light of the evening. This time away from the reception allowed them to soak in the day and capture sweet moments in a location untouched by previous wedding couples.
As the evening unfolded, the couple surprised their guests with a late-night treat—artisan donuts from Blue Star Donuts and handcrafted ice cream from Travelers Ice Cream. The dance floor remained packed throughout the night, with DJ Pure Pulse Entertainment keeping the energy high.
